Air Mattresses
A thick layer of air smooths out rough ground and spares your back. An air mattress brings near-home comfort to a tent or a base camp. The same mattress doubles as a guest bed at home.
Three things matter. A thickness of 5 cm or more supports sleeping on a side on concrete. Inflation is whether self inflating with a couple of lungs full of additional air or needs a separate pump system. The third factor is warmth - mats with R value 5+ have enormous advantages over rollmats in the winter - you can feel it when sleeping on frozen ground. Air moving inside an uninsulated mattress carries heat away. In cool weather pick an insulated model. Add a warm sleeping bag and you are covered for proper winter. Single and double sizes fit a lone sleeper or the whole family.
