MRE rations and freeze-dried meals deliver hot food with no kitchen at all. All you need is hot water or the flameless heater packed inside the ration.
Freeze-dried pouches rehydrate with hot water in about 10 minutes. Full ration packs add a main course, snacks and drink powders. For a reserve exercise or a multi-day trek budget 2500 to 3500 kcal per day. A freeze-dried pouch typically weighs 100 to 150 g and stores for years. That also makes these a smart base for a home food reserve. Conscripts receive issued rations, but from our experience these lack protein and fibers. These should be added yourself - for example Charki dried beef selection. Hot water comes from a compact camping stove and long-handled utensils reach the pouch bottom.
