Survival Kits
A survival kit is a compact collection of tools for the moment you are cut off from help. One tin or pouch covers four essentials. Those are fire, water, signalling and shelter.
The range runs from pocket-sized tins to more complete bags. Core contents typically include a fire starter, water purification, a signal mirror or whistle, cordage and a small blade. Judge any kit by whether the four essentials are covered and whether you are capable of using them. Gadget count alone tells you little. For hikers and hunters a pocket tin works well as a backup. For the car or home, pick a larger kit you can expand yourself. Building a week of home readiness draws on our crisis readiness range, first aid kits and MREs.
Practise with the kit calmly at home before you ever need it. If you are unsure, drop by Kadaka tee 42b and we will look through the contents together.
