Your face and hands are the brightest, most mobile surfaces in the field — camouflage face paint covers them in tones that disappear into the terrain.

The category includes paint sticks and multi-colour compacts (green, brown, black, plus white for winter), applied in streaks and patches to break up the natural lines of the face. Good field paint is sweat- and water-resistant yet comes off with soap or wipes, and some formulas add insect repellent. A classic three-colour NATO-style kit covers most situations. Camo creams are usually easier to remove. Skin, silhouette, gear: face paint, a ghillie suit and spray paint complete the camouflage.
