Insect Repellents
Mosquitoes, horseflies and ticks come with every Estonian summer (except for 2026). Insect repellent therefore belongs in your kit as firmly as a rain poncho. A working repellent makes a bog hike or the Springstorm exercise bearable.
The selection includes skin-applied sprays and clothing treatments. Active ingredient and concentration determine how long protection lasts. DEET and icaridin are the common skin-applied options. Permethrin-based clothing treatment adds a layer against ticks. In tick country a combination of treated clothing and covered skin works best. Repellent belongs beside your other hygiene supplies. In summer it is a fixture on every hiking equipment list.
Summer stock is held locally in Tallinn. Order in time and it arrives before the weekend hike.
